This adventure is a little ways away, about a 30 minute drive. Coronation Park is the park that my parents would bring me to when I was a kid back then it was just a regular park on the water but today it’s a really clean and modern playground with a really big splash pad, barbecues with lots of tables to host large picnics, and a concession stand(open only in the summer). If you want a really nice playground that is clean and free of weirdos, take your kids to it’s definitely worth the drive to Oakville. Maybe it’s just me, but I also love the drive along Lakeshore on my way back. It’s smooth, really swanky homes along the way and generally very scenic.

Despite all of the cool play structures and the splash pad, the kids only wanted to throw rocks in the lake. Kiki trying to figure out the science of skipping rocks and Riri watching rocks splash in the water while feeling the different textures in nature. This is the second time I’ve seen her play with rocks like this. Sitting with both of them in front of me, it was interesting to see the contrast. One was focused on perfecting his throw and the other amazed at what happens when she drops a rock in front of her. 2 different experiences, same intensity.

In the midst of all this, she got comfortable right along the shore and ended up soaking her diaper and just my luck, I used my last diaper. Luckily there were plenty of families around that were happy to hand me an extra diaper. I was super embarrassed at how this made me look but that wasn’t important. You know, sitting back and watching these 2, what was interesting watching the way they were playing with the rocks. Riri was just putting it in the water whereas Kiki was trying to figure out how to make them skip. 2 different stages, same intensity. It doesn’t mean much to people without children, but catching glimpses of where they were yesterday compared to today reminds me how fast time flies.

Father Knows Fest
Since Father's Day is Sunday, I thought to combine this with the events section. If your fam asks you what you want to do that doesnt involve a tie, Hamilton is loaded this weekend.
The Cardinals play the Chatham-Kent Barnstormers Sunday afternoon at Bernie Arbour. It's literally their Father's Day game, cheap seats, actual baseball, hot dog in your hand. That's the move.
It's also Ontario's license-free fishing weekend, Saturday and Sunday, so you can take the kids down to the water and not owe the Ministry a dollar. FrancoFEST is free all weekend at Gage Park if you'd rather eat your way through it, and the Farmers' Market is doing a Father's Day thing Saturday morning.
I pulled the whole list, dates and links, onto one page. These are specific Father’s day events but if you just want to find something to do with your clan, check out the activity finder. I think I just want to enjoy the sun and go for a hike to Princess point with mine.
