I decided to take Kiki to Cameron Speedway because he's really into cars, and the go-kart track is 20 minutes from our place. I was hoping he'd be able to get his own kart, but there are requirements for that. You have to be nine years old and over 54 inches, and he's just shy of that, so unfortunately he had to ride with me.

We went on a Tuesday, and it turns out it was three dollars a lap (basically one free lap). The ride lasted a little more than 10 minutes, I'd say, and even though he was disappointed he couldn't drive, we still had fun. I'm certain next year he'll be able to get his own kart.

When we got there, we noticed a rock climbing structure, and they also had a setup for outdoor paintball. He was really interested in trying that stuff out, but he's a little too young for that too. I was already thinking about doing paintball with him, and only hunting him down on the difficult nights. "Sorry buddy, am I ruining your fun? Doesn't that suck?!"

Beside it was the Canadian Mini Indy, and that one was really interesting, because this wasn't a casual thing, it’s a league. If you actually want to sign your kid up to learn how to drive, you can sign up for something like this, where they learn to really race using go-karts. There were a bunch of teams there, and it seemed like a race was coming up, so we got to watch people fixing up their karts. Since Kiki has been watching a lot of YouTube videos about cars, we were trying to spot all of those parts on the go-kart. Really cool. All in all, a fun experience.

Short film coming soon!

I set out to build something I’ve wanted to make since I started this newsletter, and it turned into a bigger job than I planned, it always is. I'm not going to hold up this week's post waiting on it, so consider this a teaser. A few pictures now, the real thing soon. When it's done, I think you're really going to like it. Promise.
