We started the summer throwing rocks into the water. So for the last night of it, we figured we'd do the same thing at Confederation Park, then grab ice cream to make it official. Some of that plan happened.
The park was packed for the end of summer, way more people than I expected, which was genuinely nice to see and also the reason the ice cream plan stalled out. The line for Hutch's wrapped around the building, so rocks it was. Riri wasn't there for the rocks though, she didn't want her feet wet, so I spent more time pushing her up and down the path with her little cart than actually throwing anything. She didn't seem to mind.

Here's something you may not have known. Confederation Park used to be an actual amusement park. Before the Skyway Bridge existed, getting from Hamilton to Burlington meant driving through the beach strip, and this was the stop along the way, Canal Amusement Park, apparently the place to be back then. The rides are long gone. What's left is Wild Waterworks, a mini-golf course, a small pool, a go-kart track that looks like it's been sitting there since the original park, and Hutch's, still doing brisk enough business to have a line I wasn't willing to stand in.
Since I operate some restaurants, watching so many people behind the counters and how slow the food comes out, I have to hold myself back from going in to help them. But right now, I just don't have the time to wait for ice cream. So we bailed to CC Swirls instead, which turned out to be the better move anyway. Kiki got to build his own frozen yogurt, pick every topping himself, and the whole thing gets weighed at the register, so for once nobody was rationing how many gummy bears made the cut.
Technically, that's summer, done. Practically, there's always another weekend, another park, another excuse to end up soaked near water we probably shouldn't be standing that close to.

Teaser three. This one leans into the part of Hamilton Heat that's actually about Hamilton, the mill smoke behind the car isn't a filter, that's just the skyline from my own street at the right time of day.
For the record, that's not actually me behind the wheel of the Ferrari. I wish. The kid gets his own scene too though, which might be the part he's most excited about.
Getting closer to something I'd actually call finished. Colour and pacing are mostly locked in, sound is still the weak link. Next one might be the last teaser before I just show you the whole thing.

Garage Sales, Sept 11 to 13
8 sales across Hamilton, Burlington, and Grimsby this weekend. Mostly Saturday, with one Friday sale and one Sunday sale. The east end and Stoney Creek are the busiest pockets this week.
